The Jets look to stay red hot as they continue their road trip in Colorado on Thursday night to take on the Central division basement dwellers.
The Winnipeg Jets are playing some of their best hockey since returning to the hockey crazed city a few years ago and after a streak of futile seasons this could very well be the year the Jets get back into the Stanley Cup playoffs. Winnipeg is a pretty well balanced team and they exploded for five goals against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night mind you that seems to be a pretty consistent outcome for most teams playing Dallas this year but Winnipeg deserves full credit. The Jets have been going back and forth between Mike Hutchinson and Ondrej Pavelec over the last stretch as they continue to feel out who will lead the team moving forward but for tonight we can expect the latter to be back between the pipes as he will take on Calvin Pickard as Semyon Varlamov is back on the shelf.
The Avs have dropped back to back games and need to get a spark in a big way as they were blanked by the Preds in their last game but this might not be the best matchup for them to break out of their slump as Winnipeg is playing very well at the moment. Colorado sits in last place in the division but aren't out of it by any means and if they can go on a winning streak they could find themselves back in the hunt for a playoff spot instead of for a top draft pick. Calvin Pickard gets the call in the crease but the Avs need to worry about getting their offense going and with the Jets being without two of their best blue liners this could be an opportunity for them to end their dry spell. However, The Jets play a very similar style to that of Nashville and while some pieces are missing I think the game plan stays the same and we are getting the better team at plus money.
