The Colorado Avalanche and the Pepsi Center welcome the Winnipeg Jets to town for some NHL hockey.
The Winnipeg Jets are after every point they can find and they found two on Thursday in their 4-3 victory at Dallas. The Jets saw Mark Scheifele net a pair with Bryan Little and Nikolaj Ehlers joined him in the scoring column. Ondrej Pavelec recorded stops which was the most on the season. The Stars offense came from John Klingberg, Jamie Benn and Patrick Eaves while Kari Lehtonen was charged with all four goals on 29 shots. Winnipeg has now won three in a row as they fight for the postseason while the Stars need a prolonged hot streak to get within reach of the playoff.
The Colorado Avalanche need to go on a miracle run and get some help to make the postseason so the odds are definitely not in their favor. The Avalanche fell further behind in the postseason conversation with a 5-0 loss at the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday. The Avs struggled at both ends of the ice with Spencer Martin’s third appearance for Colorado stopping 35 shots in defeat. Los Angeles had everything going their way with Jeff Carter lighting the lamp twice with Dwight King, Marian Gaborik and Dustin Brown also scoring. The support was overkill for Peter Budaj who helped the Kings to win number four in a row with 22 stops while earning his 6th shutout.
The over is 6-0 in Jets last 6 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and the over is 6-0-1 in Jets last 7 road games while the over is 5-0-1 in Jets last 6 vs. a team with a losing record. The Avalanche are 0-6 in their last 6 Saturday games and the Avalanche are 0-5 in their last 5 after allowing 5 goals or more in their previous game while the under is 2-0-2 in Avalanche last 4 after allowing 5 goals or more in their previous game. The under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and the Jets are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings while the home team is 11-4 in the last 15 meetings.
Winnipeg and the under have done well but I’m not sure about the goalie situation for Colorado…
