The Columbus Blue Jackets look to continue their strong play as they host the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night.
The Ducks look to spoil the party in Columbus tonight after they absolutely demolished the Montreal Canadiens on Friday night and while they have played in a few games since they are still riding off that win and will look for an encore here against Anaheim. The Ducks meanwhile are looking to get back in the discussion as a Pacific division favourite and a power house in the Western Conference and with John Gibson getting the call in the crease he will look to outduel Sergei Bobrovsky who is looking very strong to start the year.
The Blue Jackets are 6-2 in their last eight games against a team with a losing record and can extend that run against an underachieving Ducks side who does have a very sound roster but hasn’t been able to get rolling so far. The Blue Jackets meanwhile are a group that was expected to be a contender last season but got behind the eight ball and finished with a terrible record and snagged the third overall draft pick. However, it looks like the projections were one year off as this is a team that could qualify for the playoffs in the Metro division, though there are some very good teams they will have to beat out.
The Ducks are 1-5 in their last six against the Metro and 1-5 in their last six against the East while the Jackets are 5-1 in their last six Wednesday games and 5-2 in their last seven after allowing two goals or less in their previous outing. Anaheim needs a road win like this to catapult their season and with a pretty generous price I think we can jump.
