The Ducks look to stay red hot and win their ninth game in ten tries as they stay on the road the battle the Blue Jackets in Columbus.
The Anaheim Ducks started the season in a very deep hole and looked like they were going to finish as one of the league’s biggest underachievers in history but they have been able to right the ship and thanks to a lacklustre Pacific division they are very much in the thick of the playoff race. Anaheim still has difficulty scoring goals and if they are going to compete with the LA Kings they need to do a better job of creating chances in the offensive end and that may come in the form of a trade deadline acquisition in a few weeks time. Anaheim is loaded on the back end though and John Gibson has been special in the Ducks’ crease and if he can sustain some momentum moving forward and into the postseason they will be a tough team to beat.
The Blue Jackets meanwhile are a train wreck and will likely land in the running for the top overall draft pick as they sit in last place in the Metro division with 48 points in 55 games and are seven games under the .500 mark. Columbus was expected to compete for a playoff spot but thanks to some injuries and a lack of cohesion they haven’t been able to live up to that billing and will need to rebuild through the draft. Columbus is 9-11-5 at home this season while the Ducks are 10-11-3 on the road but have improved that mark throughout the season and should have no difficulty adding another win to their name tonight.
