The Bruins look to rebound after a 6-5 loss against the Red Wings in their last outing as they head into Columbus to battle the Blue Jackets.
The Bruins had a great opportunity to distance themselves from the Detroit Red Wings in the Atlantic division standings as the two faced off at the Joe over the weekend but a 6-5 thriller that ended with the Wings on top pushed them ahead of Boston in the division as we approach the 20 game mark. The B’s however do have a in hand and could leapfrog the Wings with a win on the road in Columbus tonight in a game that should go the way of the visitors as the Jackets sit in the basement of the Metro division and are just three points up on the Leafs for the worst mark in the Eastern Conference. Boston will send Tuukka Rask to the crease as he will match up against Joonas Korpisalo who has seen a high volume over the last few weeks.
The Blue Jackets meanwhile have had a dismal season and things don’t get any better on Tuesday as they welcome a Boston side that has been lights out on the road this season. Columbus was expected to be a dark horse in the Eastern Conference but for a handful of reasons they haven’t been able to live up to that billing and have basically been out of the playoff race since November. Columbus already sent Ryan Johansen to the Preds and they could very well make some additional moves at the trade deadline and with a lottery pick on the horizon they could find an influx of young talent coming their way by season’s end. As for tonight, Columbus is in a bad spot as Boston needs to keep winning to earn a home ice berth and they get it done on the road in this spot.
