The Buffalo Sabres open the second half of the NHL season at the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Buffalo Sabres ended the first half of the season with losses in three of four capped off by a 4-3 loss at Vancouver. Buffalo received scoring from Evan Rodrigues, Kyle Okposo and Sam Reinhart. Nine players recorded points for the Sabres with Linus Ullmark getting the loss with four goals scoring on 23 shots.

Vancouver saw scoring off the sticks from Alexander Edler, Sven Baerrtschi, Brock Boeser and Loui Eriksson. Bo Horvat assisted twice for the Canucks and Thatcher Demko recorded 36 stops to pick up the win.

The Columbus Blue Jackets headed to the All Star break with consecutive defeats with a 2-1 loss at Minnesota. Artemi Panarin scored on the power play in the second period. Seth Jones and Pierre Luc-Dubois posted assists and Sergei Bobrovsky made 29 saves to get the loss.

Jordan Greenway and Zach Parise supplied first period markers for Minnesota at 16:07 and 17:36. The Wild received 19 saves from Devan Dubnyk who upped his record to 19-14-1.

Over is 4-0 in Sabres last 4 Tuesday games and over is 4-0 in Sabres last 4 vs. a team with a winning record and over is 4-0 in Sabres last 4 road games. Over is 3-0-2 in Blue Jackets last 5 games playing on 3 or more days rest and Blue Jackets are 5-1 in their last 6 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 5-1 in Blue Jackets last 6 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. Sabres are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings in Columbus and home team is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings and over is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings in Columbus.

The first game back from the All Star break is similar to the start of the season in many ways. I think Columbus is the way to go but knock the juice down…

Pick:
Columbus -.5

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
