The Dallas Stars and Columbus Blue Jackets meet Tuesday night at the Nationwide Arena.
The Dallas Stars haven’t exactly gotten off to a great start as they’re 0-1-1 and coming off a tough 4-1 loss to the Nashville Predators. The Stars lack of offense has hurt them to begin the season, as they’ve scored just three goals and are coming off a game against Nashville where they had just 18 shots on goal. Trevor Daley, Antoine Roussel and Cody Eakin are the three Dallas players with a goal, and Tyler Seguin leads the Stars with six shots on goal. The Stars need more offensive production to succeed, especially from Jamie Benn, who hasn't scored in four straight regular season games. Goalie Kari Lehtonen has allowed two or less goals in four of his last five starts and should get the nod here considering Anders Lindback wasn’t sharp in his last outing.
The Columbus Blue Jackets are off to a quick 2-0 start and will play their second home game of the season. The Blue Jackets are being led by goalie Sergei Bobrovsky, who has allowed three goals on 48 shots faced, and he’s now won six straight regular season games. Bobrovsky is quickly becoming one of the better young goalies in the league and gives Columbus a fighting chance each and every night. Offensively, Cam Atkinson leads Columbus with three goals and Scott Hartnell has three assists. Nick Foligno also has a goal and leads Columbus with eight shots on goal. The Columbus Blue Jackets have to be thrilled with their start to the season, especially considering they’ve allowed only four power play opportunities in two games.
The Stars are 6-2 in their last 8 games playing on 2 days rest and 7-20 in their last 27 road games. The Blue Jackets are 1-4 in their last 5 games playing on 2 days rest and 20-43 in their last 63 vs. Central. The Stars are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings, while the road team is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.
The Dallas Stars hve been a brutal road team for quite some time and haven't gotten off to a great start this season. It's hard to pick against the Blue Jackets judging by what we've seen so far.
