The Line: Columbus Blue Jackets -157 / Dallas Stars +120 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Dallas Stars and Columbus Blue Jackets meet Tuesday in NHL action at the Nationwide Arena.
The Dallas Stars look for a victory after winning five of their last seven games. The Dallas Stars are averaging 3.1 goals per game and are scoring on 23.7 percent of their power play opportunities. Jamie Benn leads Dallas with six goals, Tyler Seguin has 11 assists and John Klingberg has 38 shots on goal. Defensively, the Dallas Stars are allowing 2.6 goals per game and are killing 85 percent of their opponents power plays. Ben Bishop has given up 23 goals on 297 shots faced and Anton Khudobin has allowed seven goals on 91 shots. The Dallas Stars have allowed three or less goals in eight of their last nine games.
The Columbus Blue Jackets look for a spark of consistency after splitting their last six games. The Columbus Blue Jackets are averaging 3.3 goals per game and are scoring on 10.7 percent of their power play opportunities. Josh Anderson leads Columbus with seven goals, Artemi Panarin has 10 assists and Cam Atkinson has 54 shots on goal. Defensively, the Columbus Blue Jackets are allowing 3.6 goals per game and are killing 76.6 percent of their opponents power plays. Sergei Bobrovsky has given up 29 goals on 277 shots faced and Joonas Korpisalo has allowed 20 goals on 173 shots. The Columbus Blue Jackets have allowed three or more goals in 10 of their last 11 games.
The Stars are 26-57 in their last 83 games playing on 0 days rest, 5-12 in their last 17 road games and 4-12 in their last 16 vs. Eastern Conference. The Blue Jackets are 7-3 in their last 10 Tuesday games, 4-10 in their last 14 games playing on 1 days rest and 3-8 in their last 11 home games. The Stars are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings in Columbus and 0-5 in the last 5 meetings. The under is 4-1-1 in Stars last 6 road games and the under is 10-4 in Blue Jackets last 14 vs. Central.
The Dallas Stars are a nice bet based on their defensive effort and the fact they'll be in games until the very end. The problem is the Stars have been horrible on the end of back to backs over the years, and they're coming off a physical game against the Boston Bruins that included overtime. The Columbus Blue Jackets are due for a breakout performance at home. I'll give the Blue Jackets the edge in this contest.
