The Red Wings look to shake off a tough loss against the Hawks in Chicago as they continue their road trip in Columbus on Tuesday.
The Detroit Red Wings look to regain some ground in the Atlantic division with a road victory against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday night and with a win they can move ahead of the Penguins for the first wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. The Wings have dropped back to back games and are 4-4-2 in their last 10 contests and have picked a very inopportune time to hit a speed bump as they have a huge target on their backs from the rest of the wild card hopefuls in the East. Detroit is 16-11-5 on the road this season and will look to extend Columbus’ misery as they have been among the league’s most disappointing teams and will have an extended offseason after being a preseason dark horse.
The Blue Jackets have been playing better under John Tortorella and have played out of the league basement but heading into tonight’s game they sit in the Eastern Conference and were absolutely pasted by the Philadelphia Flyers in their last outing. The Jackets do have some nice pieces but will need a hell of a lot more if they’re going to be competitive in the Metropolitan division as they don’t have the legs that Washington and Pittsburgh do. Columbus is 14-12-6 at home but face a Wings side here that is in desperation mode and I think the road side gets a win in hostile territory.
