The Panthers look to build on their impressive win in Nashville last night as they continue their road trip to Columbus to battle the Blue Jackets.
The Panthers got a huge boost last night as they went into Nashville to battle the Predators and came away with a big victory that marked their fourth in a row and sixth in their last 10 overall. Florida currently sits in fifth place in the Atlantic division but are just four points back of the second seeded Senators and by the end of the weekend they could very well find themselves in a playoff position. Florida has a very solid blue line as illustrated last night against the Preds and the goaltending duo of Roberto Luongo and Al Montoya has been strong with the former logging starter's minutes and acting as one of the league's best goaltenders. Montoya though will likely get the start tonight as he will go up against Sergei Bobrovsky.
The Blue Jackets have had a tough go this season and while things have turned around a little bit under John Tortorella there really wasn't anywhere to go but up and I think this season could be considered a write off already. The Jackets are in last place in the Metro and are 17 points back of the division leading Capitals and while no one was circling the Jackets in to challenge for the division title there were many who expected them to be in the race for a playoff spot. That hasn't been the case so far and I don't expect it to be the case moving forward as Columbus doesn't have the horses to make a run and I think we see that again in this one. Florida should win here.
