The Blue Jackets look to lock up their third win in a row and extend LA's woeful road record as the team's meet up in Columbus on Monday.
The Kings haven't had the season many expected they would fresh off their second Stanley Cup in three seasons and their play on the road has been a huge reason why they run the risk of missing out on the playoffs entirely this season. LA heads into Columbus sitting in fifth place in the Pacific division and are outside of the two wild card spots at the moment and while there is still plenty of time left for them to right the ship they know their division is incredibly tough and they'll be hard pressed to move forward with a ton of confidence if they can't get it together in a hurry. It has been tough not having Slava Voynov this season but the Kings are still deep enough to get it done and with the leaders in the dressing room and behind the bench being strong LA is more than capable of going on a winning streak and making a push at reclaiming their title.
The Jackets meanwhile have been a disappointment this season and are likely to miss out on the playoffs but they're in a tough spot as they are far enough away from contention to qualify and not bad enough to land a top draft pick. The Jackets hosted the all-star game this season in hopes that their fan abse would be geared up for a playoff run but it hasn't worked out the way they had anticipated and while they are coming off two wins in a row they continue to play without Sergei Bobrovsky and are leaning on Curtis McElhinney to get it done. The Kings haven't been good on the road but I think a sense of urgency will kick in here and I like them at a great price to earn two points at Nationwide Arena at the expense of the Jackets.
