The Line: Columbus Blue Jackets +100 / Nashville Predators -110 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Predators look to ride the momentum of a big win into Columbus to face a Blue Jackets team coming off their best game of the season.
Nashville is a very physical team that beats teams with defense and strong goaltending and even though they’re without Pekka RInne who is one of the best net minders in the game they have stuck with the game plan to varying degrees of success. Nashville is deep on the back end and have been able to defend in front of Marek Mazanec who is filling in in the interim for Rinne. The Preds head into Columbus with a 12-10-2 mark however they are in sixth place in the division as the powerhouses of the West including Chicago, Minnesota, St. Louis and Colorado occupy the top spots in the division. Nashville will look to pull to the .500 mark on the road with a win here but with the Blue Jackets oozing of confidence at the moment it could be a tough out.
The Jackets went into Toronto on Monday night and absolutely blasted the Leafs to the tune of a 6-0 victory as huge underdogs that is easily the team’s best game of the year. To add a little more perspective the Jackets won without the likes of Brandon Dubinsky and Marian Gaborik who were sidelined with injury and not only did Columbus win they dominated this game from start to finish. The Jackets return home where they are 4-6-1 this season but they can jump into 4th place in the Metro division with a victory. While the Blue Jackets looked very good on Monday I think this is a totally different scenario as the Preds are a very physical and gritty team, something the Leafs are not and I think that will take its toll on a Blue Jackets team who will struggle in that context. Take the Predators on the road here.
