These two teams have struggled immensely at times this season so this will be an interesting match up on Saturday night. The inconsistency from New York has been maddening at times and the acquisition of Thomas Vanek has done nothing to change that. After an excellent win against the Ottawa Senators last week the Islanders have followed that up with a couple of duds and Thursday night's 1-0 shutout to the Carolina Hurricanes was the worst of them. Some nights it looks like the Islandes can put up a 10 spot but they still might not win because they can't stop anyone. Other night's they can't put a goal past a guy like Justin Peters. They'll need to find a way to bring the same effort every night otherwise they're not going to meet the lofty expectations they have for themselves. Columbus fell by a score of 4-2 to the New York Rangers on Thursday night and it was a game where they never were really able to get going until the third period. There just never was any urgency until the end and thats not good enough for a team that's struggled like Columbus has to start this year. This is a big game for both teams because they're both struggling with similar problems.
