The Columbus Blue Jackets welcome the New York Islanders to town for a Thursday NHL tilt.

The New York Islanders look to get back in the win column after a 3-1 loss at Buffalo on Tuesday ended a three game winning streak. Casey Cizikas scored in the first period for New York with Robin Lehner getting the loss with three goals allowed on 22 shots.

Buffalo received scoring off the sticks of Jeff Skinner, Jason Pominville and Johan Larsson. Jack Eichel posted a pair of assists for the Sabres who received 24 stops from Linus Ullmark.

The surging Columbus Blue Jackets ran their winning streak to four games with a 3-0 win against visiting Washington on Tuesday. The Washington offense only manage 20 shots and Braden Holtby paid the price with two goals allowed on 31 shots turning in to a loss.

Anthony Duclair, Nick Foligno and Artemi Panarin lit the lamp for the Blue Jackets. Eight players recorded points for Columbus and Sergei Bobrovsky brushed aside 20 shots to pick up the win.

Islanders are 6-2 in their last 8 games as an underdog and Islanders are 10-4 in their last 14 road games and Islanders are 19-7 in their last 26 overall.

Blue Jackets are 4-0 in their last 4 overall and Blue Jackets are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. Metropolitan and over is 4-1-2 in Blue Jackets last 7 overall.

Islanders are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings in Columbus and Islanders are 2-5 in the last 7 meetings.

My initial thoughts are these teams are more similar then different so something on the better odds…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
