The Rangers look to shake off a shutout loss at the hands of the Bruins last night as they head into Columbus to take on the fading Blue Jackets.
The Rangers have dropped back to back contests but still remain one of the hottest teams in the NHL at the moment and they will look to get back in the win column on Friday a night after getting blanked by the upstart Boston Bruins. New York will go back with Henrik Lundqvist after Cam Talbot got the start in Boston last night and with a victory here the Blue Shirts can pull to within two points of the Capitals for third in the Metro division and distance themselves in the wild card race. The Rangers are 11-7-1 on the road this season while the Blue Jackets are 9-11-2 at home. Sergei Bobrovsky is expected to get the start in the crease for the Jackets.
Columbus is a tough team to figure out as they head playoff aspirations during the preseason and a lot of reinforcement from the outside solidified those hopes but they have flopped this season and heading into Friday night they sit with a disappointing 18-20-3 record. The Jackets had to deal with the Ryan Johansen contract saga in the offseason and looks as though it has taken its toll on all of those involved as both Johansen and the Jackets have vastly underachieved and with the mid way point of the season come and gone it'll be tough for the Jackets to turn it around and get into the playoffs. Despite dropping a 3-0 decision last night the Rangers should be favoured here as Lundqvist returns to the crease and that enough should give the Rangers the confidence to get the win and we get them at a pretty good price to boot.
