The Pittsburgh Penguins look for their second win in as many nights against the Columbus Blue Jackets as the teams complete a home and home set in Ohio.
The Penguins take to the road to face the same team in less than 24 hours as they head to Columbus to take on the Jackets fresh off a 4-2 victory last night. The Penguins raced out to a 4-0 lead before the Jackets chipped away and halved the deficit scoring two unanswered. Pittsburgh’s win moved their record to 10-4 on the year and gave them their third straight decision after last weekend’s loss on the road against the Maple Leafs. The Penguins are certainly a contender to win the Stanley Cup this year as they have been for the last several and a four point swing in a two day stretch will certainly help boost the forward as if they needed any. However, they are only 3-2 on the road this season and while it isn’t a great sample size they seem to be a little more susceptible on the road and are playing the same team in a two day stretch.
The Jackets looked very sloppy for 40 minutes last night but they get a chance at redemption here and actually started to gain quite a bit of momentum to end the game as they score the last two goals and were itching for more. Columbus is a much improved team and while last night we were on the Penguins big I think the tables can turn in this spot as the Jackets are 3-3 at home and can move above .500 with a much needed victory. Sergei Bobrovsky will have to be sharp and with him there isn’t any other expectation and to me I think this is a game that the Jackets can win. This is a very light play as I never like betting against Sidney Crosby but I think the Jackets are worth a stab here in a nice home spot for them.
