The San Jose Sharks look to continue their impressive road winning streak as they head into Nationwide Arena to face off with the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday.
The Sharks have won 6 games in a row away from home and are looking like a very dangerous team in the Western Conference as they have gone 8-2 in their last 10 games and should be well rested here against a Jackets side returning home after a win in Ottawa last night. The Sharks come into Saturday’s show down with the Blue Jackets with an impressive 6-1 mark in their last 7 contests against the Metro division and are 11-4 in their last 15 games as a favorite but the line is likely to do some moving over the course of the day as it is right at a pick ‘em right now giving pretty good value for both teams. Martin Jones is expected to get the nod and the Jackets will likely counter with Sergei Bobrovsky based on the significance of the matchup, though in a back to back we could see Joonas Korpisalo.
The Jackets meanwhile made a splash by acquiring Matt Duchene from the Senators on Friday night and then they added to their pillage by defeating Ottawa by a 3-0 final on the road. Columbus is making a push for the playoffs and getting one of the most coveted pieces on the trading block is a great place to start and they will be out to claim their 5th win in a row against Western Conference opponents and 6th in their last 8 games on a Saturday. Columbus has struggled at home lately with a disappointing 1-5 mark in their last 6 contests and they have dropped 4 of their last 5 on home ice against the Sharks so this one figures to be another tough contest for them against one of the league’s elite teams.
The Sharks are 19-7 in their last 26 Saturday games and 8-2 in their last 10 playing with a day of rest while the Jackets are 1-4 in their last 5 as a home favorite and have hit the Under in 3 of their last 4 at home. San Jose to me is the better team here and we are getting them cheap as Columbus will be traveling home and will still be getting used to their new lineup.
