The Tampa Bay Lightning pay a visit to Nationwide Arena to face the Columbus Blue Jackets in a Thursday NHL bout.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are looking to stay hot in the early going with a stop at the Columbus Blue Jackets. Tampa Bay comes off of a 5-4, shootout loss at the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday where the defense suffered an off night.
Steven Stamkos paced the Lightning attack with a goal and an assist with Ondrej Palat and Vladislav Namestnikov also scoring. Nikita Kucherov added his 8th and also posted a helper but goalie Peter Budaj allowed four goals on 34 shots as Tampa Bay saw their four game win streak end.
The New Jersey Devils received a pair of goals from Drew Stafford with Brian Gibbons also lighting the lamp. Kyle Palmieri also scored in regulation and scored the only goal in the shootout to make a winner of Cory Schneider and his 33 saves as the Devils upped their record to 5-1.
The red hot Columbus Blue Jackets host the equally hot Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night. Columbus won number four in a row following a 5-2 victory at the Winnipeg Jets where both ends of the ice contributed.
This was competitive until the Blue Jackets exploded in a four goal second period to essentially put this in the win column. The balanced CBJ offense featured scoring from Nick Foligno, Jack Johnson, Cam Atkinson, Zach Werenski and Lukas Sediak.
Joonas Korpisalo allowed goals by Joel Armia and Kyle Connor but stopped 24 Winnipeg shots overall to pick up the win. Jets goalie Steve Mason allowed all five goals on a hefty 39 shots to absorb the loss.
Lightning are 4-0 in their last 4 Thursday games and Lightning are 5-0 in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest and over is 4-0 in Lightning last 4 vs. Metropolitan. Blue Jackets are 4-0 in their last 4 overall and
Blue Jackets are 0-4 in their last 4 Thursday games and over is 2-0-2 in Blue Jackets last 4 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game. Under is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings in Columbus and under is 18-6-1 in the last 25 meetings.
Pending goalie confirmation I might take a shot at the under but I’ll dig further in to numbers…
