The Lightning head into Columbus on Monday looking to shake off a loss while the Jackets need to start winning soon to play their way out of the Eastern Conference basement.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are 6-4 in their last 10 contests but a slow start to the year has the team playing catch up and after 30 games they sit in sixth place in the Atlantic division which is a far cry from where they were last year as Eastern Conference champions. The Bolts are 7-7-2 on the road this season but will be facing off against a Blue jackets side that is without Sergei Bobrovsky and if there is any time for the Lightning offense to wake up and break out it is against this Jackets team. Ben Bishop is expected to get the start as he will go up against Curtis McElhinney.
The Blue Jackets are in tough in the Metro division as they sit 15 points out of a playoff spot and with the competition level being what it is in their division I don't imagine they will be able to rectify their losing ways and make a push towards the postseason. Columbus was expected to do big things this season but a very slow start had them being the eight ball early and now they are primed to be sellers at the trade deadline and could very well hit the rest button in the offseason. The Jackets are 4-7-3 at home this season and with McEilhinney in goal for the foreseeable future I am fading the Jackets and will take the Lightning on the road.
