The Columbus Blue Jackets host the Tampa Bay Lightning in Monday NHL action.

The surging Tampa Bay Lightning have won five in a row after downing visiting Montreal 3-0 on Saturday. Montreal struggled at both ends of the ice with a 37-20 shot differential with Carey Price allowing three goals on 37 shots to get the loss.

Tampa Bay did all their scoring in the third period with Nikita Kucherov, Yanni Gourde and Tyler Johnson lighting the lamp. Ondrej Palat and Steven Stamkos added two assists each for the Lightning and Andrei Vasilevskiy stopping 20 shots.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have begun to heat up with wins in five of six following a 5-2 win at Chicago on Saturday. Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews lit the lamp for the Blackhawks. Kane also assisted and Cam Ward absorbed the loss with five goals allowed on 30 shots.

Artemi Panarin paced the Blue Jackets with a pair of goals with Pierre-Luc Dubois, Cam Atkinson and Josh Anderson finding the scoring column. Ryan Murray gave Columbus three helpers and Sergei Bobrovsky recorded 39 saves to get the win.

Lightning are 40-11 in their last 51 vs. Eastern Conference and Lightning are 41-12 in their last 53 games playing on 1 days rest and Lightning are 36-17 in their last 53 road games.

Blue Jackets are 5-1 in their last 6 overall and Blue Jackets are 6-2 in their last 8 games following a win and Blue Jackets are 1-4 in their last 5 home games.

Under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings in Columbus and Lightning are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Columbus.

Both teams are at the top of their game so I’m looking at Tampa Bay who has back to back shutouts…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
