The Columbus Blue Jackets look to find some consistency as they welcome the Las Vegas Golden Knights to town on Tuesday night.
The Knights continue to defy logic and are in the mix for top spot in the league standings with about a month to go in the regular season and with a win on the road on Tuesday night they would push their record to 28-12 in their last 40 contests. Las Vegas has hit a bit of a speed bump in their otherwise unblemished season as they are starting to look a little more human down the stretch here and while it won’t overshadow their fast start I think we are seeing a little more of what we can expect from this Vegas team or at least what we should have expected at the onset of the season. Vegas is slated to send Marc-Andre Fleury to the crease here as he will face off with Sergei Bobrovsky who needs to be sharp tonight in order to give the Jackets a home win as a slight underdog.
The Jackets have had a very inconsistent season and need a strong final push if they’re going to make a run at a playoff spot and with a 3-11 mark in their last 14 games after a win it is alarming evidence that this team can find any consistency and it could very well come back to bite them. Columbus is just 2-6 in their last eight games against the Pacific division and are 1-5 in their last six contests when playing their fourth game of a 4-in-6 set and with the Knights in town who have been the model of consistency this season it should create a matchup nightmare for Columbus.
The Golden Knights are 12-5 in their last 17 against the East and 7-3 in their last 10 against the Metro while the Jackets are 4-1 in their last five on one day’s rest and have played to the over in four straight. The Knights seem to be looser defensively on the road and with the offense taking focus I like this one to go over.
