The Jets look to build on their home ice win over the Blackhawks on Thursday as they head into Columbus to battle the Blue Jackets.
The Winnipeg Jets got a much needed victory over their division rivals from Chicago on Thursday night as they netted a 3-1 win that put them three points behind the Stars for top spot in the Central and they can add to that with a win here tonight against Columbus. The Jets got a spectacular effort out of Mike Hutchinson in the victory but the goaltending spot is still up for grabs as the season unfolds as Ondrej Pavelec has played well also leaving the Jets in a bit of a bind in terms of who their starter is but in a good spot in terms of confidence in their goaltending. Pavelec is expected to get the start here with the Jets playing again on Sunday and he will match up against Sergei Bobrovsky who has started to play much better of late and will try to get the Jackets back in the win column.
The Blue Jackets nightmare start continues on Saturday night as they welcome the Jets to town as they look for just their third victory of the season and their first win on home ice. Columbus sits in last place in the Metro division and unless they can turn something around in a hurry than John Tortorella's bunch will find themselves in that spot for the duration of the season and drafting with a top end draft pick – which at this rate may not be a bad thing as they have some gaping holes in their lineup. Columbus does tend to get up for games against the league's better teams but this looks like a nightmare spot as the Jets are rolling in the defensive zone right now and will be hard pressed to score against them.
