The Dallas Stars look to snap their two game losing skid as they return home to face the Anaheim Ducks who are winners of their last three and lead the Pacific division.
The Ducks head into Big D on Tuesday night sitting atop the NHL standings with the St. Louis Blue as both teams have 37 points and lead their respective divisions. While the Ducks have played three more games than the idle Blue it is Anaheim that has had a more road heavy start to the year and they'll look to continue to find success away from home in this one. Anaheim is a very well built team that can compete with anyone and should very much be in the playoff picture in April. Anaheim is led up front by Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, and Teemu Selanne but it is their two way game up front and solid back end that has propelled the Ducks to where they are and with the goaltending tandem they have in place they could very well land the President's Trophy. Anaheim heads into Dallas with a modest .500 record in their last 10 contests but have been playing better of late and should have a good chance to take down the Stars in this one.
Dallas has been a tough team to figure out as they have a lot of pieces in place to not only make th eplayoffs but pull off a couple of upsets along the way but it looks as though they're still a piece or a seaosn away from seriously contending. Dallas made a splash in the offseason as they traded for former second overall pick Tyler Seguin and former Bruins teammate Rich Peverley in exchange for high flying winger Loui Eriksson and so far the move has worked out well as Seguin is in the upper stanza of league scoring and he and Jamie Benn seem to have found great chemistry, much similar to that of Benn and Eriksson in their Dallas days together. While the Stars are a good team it is shocking to me that they're favoured in this contest and while the Ducks haven't played as well on the road as they have at home they're still statistically the best team in the league at the moment and I have no idea what the odds makers are thinking here. I am taking the Ducks at plus money all day.
