The Bruins look to shake off a loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets over the weekend as they head to Dallas to take on former teammate Tyler Seguin and the Stars.
The Boston Bruins need a mulligan after dropping their last contest on home ice against the Columbus Blue Jackets and to do so they take to the road to face off against the Stars who have won back to back games and have points in seven of their last 10. The B's were written off by a lot of people no more than a month ago as they were struggling with consistency and just didn't seem like the same roster we have grown accustomed to over the last five years but after a 6-1-3 stretch has them back in the wild card the Bruins could be a team to be reckoned with. Boston has the pedigree in place to make a deep playoff run despite losing some key pieces in the offseason and if they can avoid playing the Montreal Canadiens who seemingly are their kryptonite than the Bruins could very well get back to the Stanley Cup finals. As for tonight they will turn to Tuukka Rask who will go up against Kari Lehtonen in a battle of Finnish national teammates.
The Stars are starting to come along after a sluggish first half of the season and while they're a long shot to make the playoffs they aren't out of the mix by any means and a solid run to close out the year could mean big things for this group. The Stars are just two point behind the Flames for the second wild card spot and while it would mean a first round matchup with the Anaheim Ducks or Nashville Predators the Stars know that the West is incredibly tough and it would be a difficult match up regardless of where they finished and just getting into the playoffs is the first step. Tyler Seguin has been incredible since leaving Boston and you can be sure he will be amped up to get a win here and while I like Boston as a dark horse team right now I think this is a tough spot as the Stars are playing much better and I think Dallas' top line makes the difference here.
