The Line: Dallas Stars +113 / Boston Bruins -125 --- Over/Under: 5.5
NHL hockey comes to the American Airlines Center when the Boston Bruins pay a visit to the Dallas Stars.
The Boston Bruins got exactly what they wanted with Bruce Cassidy taking over on an ‘interim’ basis and that’s winning games. The Bruins added another to the win column Thursday with a 4-1 road win versus the Los Angeles Kings to up their record to 5-1 under Cassidy. The Bruins received goals from David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand with David Krejci and Dominic Moore scoring empty netters. Anton Khudobin picked up the win with a 27 save performance as Boston won in Los Angeles for the first time in nearly five years. The Kings lone goal came from Kevin Gravel with Peter Budaj taking the loss with 21 saves as the LAK dropped six of their last eight with no offense to speak of.
The Dallas Stars postseason hopes are hanging by a thread which means every point is worth it’s weight in gold. The Stars picked up two Friday with a late scoring burst leading the way in a 5-2 victory against the visiting Arizona Coyotes. The balanced Dallas attack featured goals from Jamie Benn, Devin Shore, John Klingberg, Lauri Korpikoski and Cody Eakin while Kari Lehtonen was strong between the pipes with a 25 save performance to pick up the win. The Stars are ten points out of the second Wild Card with time running out quickly. The Coyotes received goals from Radim Vrbata and Martin Hanzal and actually led 2-1 late in the second period before the roof caved in with Louis Dominique charged with all five goals on 37 shots.
The Bruins are 5-0 in their last 5 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game and the over is 6-0-1 in Bruins last 7 vs. a team with a losing record while the Bruins are 1-6 in their last 7 when their opponent scores 5 goals or more in their previous game. The Stars are 0-8 in their last 8 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game and the over is 8-0 in Stars last 8 home games vs. a team with a losing road record while the over is 4-0 in Stars last 4 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game. The road team is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings and the over is 6-1-1 in the last 8 meetings while the Bruins are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Dallas.
The numbers favor the Bruins in this match up and the scoreboard has also taken a beating so I lean over pending goalies…
