The Stars look to keep their bid for a playoff spot intact as they host the lowly Buffalo Sabres in Dallas on Monday.
The Sabres' woeful season continues on the road in another tough spot as they face off against a red hot Stars team that is making a push towards the final wild card spot in the Western Conference and a team that has won seven of their last 10 games. The Sabres have lost back to back games and are 1-7-2 in their last 10 contests and sit with a league worst mark of 20-45-7 with a large portion of those losses coming on the road. Buffalo is a show in for one of the top two picks in the NHL draft and at this rate they will likely hold down the top overall selection which would result in an instant upgrade by bringing in Connor McDavid and with Sam Reinhart on his way as well the Sabres could be a team to watch out for in a few years time. As for now though they are in shambles and that continues as they're ridiculous underdogs once again, though the last time we saw them at over +340 they won a shootout game against the Capitals.
The Stars have had a disappointing season for them ost part but they certainly picked a rgeat time to start playign their best hockey and now they have a shot at chasing down the pack for the final wild card spot in the West. While it is a longshot at this point as they are eight points back with no games in hand it is something to build on for next season as they are competitive with a lot of teams in the Western Conference at the moment and that is without the services of Tyler Seguin. Dallas is on a roll right now but they haven't played particularly well at home this season and while they are due to steamroll the Sabres here I would be cautious. The better play here is on the total and the Stars have the ability to bust the score board here and if Buffalo can chip in a bit we should have an over pretty easily.
