Tuesday night NHL action sees the Calgary Flames visit American Airlines Center to face the Dallas Stars.
The Calgary Flames need to string together a few wins to rebound from a few weeks of inconsistent play. Calgary might be heading in that direction after consecutive victories capped off by a 5-1 win versus Colorado. Nathan MacKinnon scored the lone goal for the Avalanche in the first period with Semyon Varlamov allowing five goals on 29 shots.
The Flames offense featured five different players lighting the lamp with Michael Frolik, Mark Giordano, Sean Monahan, Troy Brouwer and Mikeal Backlund all scoring. Backlund, Matthew Tkachuk and TJ Brodie gave Calgary two assists each and Jon Gillis stopped 28 shots for the win.
The Dallas Stars been struggling to score over the past few weeks and the result has been losses in four of six after a 5-3 loss to the Winnipeg Jets. The Stars received goals from Tyler Pitlick, Tyler Seguin and Alexander Radulov but Kari Lehtonen allowed four goals on 21 shots with Ben Bishop stopping 5-6 in relief.
The Jets exploded for five second period goals with Patrik Laine scoring twice while Nikolaj Ehlers, Toby Enstrom and Mark Scheifele joined the scoring spree. Ehlers gave Winnipeg two assists and Dustin Byfuglien posted three helpers to make a winner of Michael Hutchinson and his 33 saves.
Over is 4-0 in Flames last 4 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and over is 3-0-1 in Flames last 4 vs. Western Conference and over is 4-0 in Flames last 4 road games. Under is 5-0 in Stars last 5 after allowing 5 goals or more in their previous game and Stars are 11-2 in their last 13 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and Stars are 2-5 in their last 7 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game. Over is 15-6-3 in the last 24 meetings and over is 7-3-2 in the last 12 meetings in Dallas and road team is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings.
When these teams take the ice there is usually plenty of offense so I’m looking at the over pending goalies…
