The Carolina Hurricanes travel to the American Airlines Center for an NHL matchup with the Dallas Stars.
The Carolina Hurricanes play their third consecutive road contest with a stop at the American Airlines Center on Saturday. Carolina comes off of a 2-1 victory at the Calgary Flames on Thursday where defense carried the team to back to back wins.
Justin Williams tallied the game winner in the third period on the power play for the Hurricanes who went 1-6 with the man advantage. Jeff Skinner opened the scoring for Carolina in the second and also assisted on Williams goal to make the 25 stops of Scott Darling a winning effort.
The Flames had a few opportunities to score but only Sean Monahan was able to beat Darling at 16:52 of the third period. Mike Smith was strong in the nets for Calgary with a 31 save performance in start number seven straight.
The suddenly surging Dallas Stars welcome the Carolina Hurricanes to town for a Saturday bout. Dallas turned to their offense in upending the Arizona Coyotes 5-4 on Thursday night for win number three in a row.
Tyler Seguin led the Dallas attack with a pair of goals with Stephen Jones, Radem Faksa and Jamie Benn also lighting the lamp. Benn also added a pair of helpers and the Stars received 27 saves from Ben Bishop.
The Coyotes received a pair of goals from Clayton Keller and Derek Stepan as the team rallied twice from third period deficits but Arizona could not get over the hump. Adin Hill was charged with all five goals as Arizona has yet to get in the win column.
Over is 4-0 in Hurricanes last 4 vs. a team with a winning record and over is 5-1-1 in Hurricanes last 7 when their opponent scores 5 goals or more in their previous game and Hurricanes are 1-5 in their last 6 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. Stars are 1-9 in their last 10 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game and Stars are 6-1 in their last 7 Saturday games and under is 6-1 in Stars last 7 vs. a team with a winning record. Hurricanes are 0-5 in the last 5 meetings and Hurricanes are 1-8 in the last 9 meetings in Dallas.
I have to dig further in to this once I see goalie confirmation because I prefer the way Carolina has performed…
