Dallas Stars -118 / Colorado Avalanche -103 -- O/U: 5.5
The Colorado Avalanche and the Dallas Stars meet in NHL action from the American Airlines Center on Thursday night.
The Colorado Avalanche come into this game looking to build on a 4-3 overtime win over Detroit in their last outing. Detroit opened the scoring with the lone goal of the opening period before J.T. Compher responded in the early moments of the 2nd period wth the lone goal of the middle frame, sending us to the 3rd tied at one. The teams would trade goals with Detroit taking a lead before Mikko Rantanen tied the game at two apiece. Detroit took a late lead on the power play before Tyson Barrie tied the game again just :43 later to send us to OT where Nathan MacKinnon scored just before the midway point of the extra period to give Colorado the win. Semyon Varlamov got the win to improve to 19-16-9 this season, stopping 20 of 23 shots faced in the winning effort.
The Dallas Stars will look to build on their current 3-game winning streak after a 1-0 win over the visiting New York Rangers last time out. The game was scoreless through the opening period before Rob Klingberg scored the lone goal of the game in the early moments of the 2nd period. Dallas would hold on through the rest of the 2nd and the entire 3rd period, picking up the win, outshooting the Rangers 32-28 in the victory. Ben Bishop got the win to improve to 21-14-2 after stopping all 28 shots faced for his 4th shutout of the season, including his 3rd shutout with a 1-0 score line.
Colorado is 10-22 in their last 32 games overall and 32-71 in their last 103 road games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win. Dallas is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall and 6-2 in their last 8 home games while the under is 18-5-3 in their last 26 games following a win. Colorado is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams but just 1-5 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams in Dallas.
Colorado and the low line is worth a look considering how much success the Avs have had recently in this matchup. However, a lot of that success came at home, and the Avalanche have been a profitable fade on the road for quite some time now. Dallas has been playing well lately, and have been a decent betting option at home this season, so I’ll lay the juice with the Stars to keep their winning streak alive with a victory here.
