Edmonton Oilers (18-20-3) at Dallas Stars (23-16-3)
|Date & Time||Saturday January 6, 2018, 3:00 PM (EST)|
The Line: Dallas Stars -145 / Edmonton Oilers +131 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Edmonton Oilers visit the American Airlines Center to face the Dallas Stars in a Saturday NHL bout.
The Edmonton Oilers are in need of wins and points with their season on the line. Edmonton has plenty of time to turn things around but time won’t always be on their side. The Oilers picked up a 2-1, shootout victory versus the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday that ended a four game slide. The Oilers drew first blood at 11:58 of the second period on a Kris Russell tally on assists from Connor McDavid and Milan Lucic.
Anaheim evened the score just 18 seconds in to the third period on a power play goal off the stick of Ryan Kessler with assists going to Jakob Silfverberg and Cam Fowler. Mike Cammalleri and Ryan Nuggent-Hopkins scored the in the shootout and Cam Talbot stopped 33 shots to get the two points for Edmonton. John Gibson stopped 33 shots to salvage a point for the Ducks.
The Dallas Stars have been enjoying a bit of a surge which is a welcome sight for a team trying to stockpile points for the postseason race. Dallas has won three of four after outscoring the visiting New Jersey Devils 4-3 on Thursday. Taylor Hall paced the Devils attack with a goal and two assists with Brian Boyle and Kyle Palmieri also scored.
The Stars were balanced at the offensive end of the ice with Alexander Radulov, Tyler Seguin, Brett Ritchie and Mattias Janmark all finding the back of the net. Radulov also logged a pair of helpers to lift Ben Bishop and his 39 saves to the win for Dallas while Cory Schneider made 29 save for New Jersey.
Oilers are 4-0 in their last 4 Saturday games and under is 5-1 in Oilers last 6 vs. a team with a winning record and Oilers are 5-1 in their last 6 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. Stars are 4-0 in their last 4 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 4-0 in Stars last 4 vs. Western Conference and over is 7-1 in Stars last 8 games following a win. Over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and home team is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings and Oilers are 9-30-1 in the last 40 meetings in Dallas.
The over has been a solid wager and the Stars have been the better side and I’m looking for the respective offenses to take this over…
