The Wild look to shake off a loss on home ice as they were pasted by the Kings when they head into Dallas to take on the Stars.
The Minnesota Wild have been one of the best home ice teams in the league over the last couple of seasons but they didn't have anything in the tank in their last outing as Darcy Kuemper was shelled for four first period markers that ultimately held up as the difference as the Wild were shut out. The Wild are a very solid team and have deep postseason aspirations but they need to find more consistency in their game if they're going to stay competitive in the Central division and a game like this against a division rival on the road would go a long way in helping them get back into the fold. Minnesota is six points back of the Predators and Blues in the Central but have a game in hand on the latter and have more than a capable shot at going on a stretch to close that gap but the Stars are starting to find their way having won three in a row and trailing the Wild by just two points.
The Stars are starting to play like the team many expected them to be but still have some climbing to do as they're just a single point up on the Avs for the last spot in the Central division despite sitting with a .500 record through 22 games. Dallas was projected to be a team on the rise this season after acquiring Jason Spezza and Ales Hemsky but neither former Sens forward has played well in his new digs and the Stars have been using their explosive back end (haha) to generate offensive production. Kari Lehtonen has had an off year after putting up ludicrous numbers last season and while I think he is capable of turning it around I like the value on the Wild here who I think should respond after a sluggish effort against the Kings and I like them to get a much needed road win here tonight.
