The Minnesota Wild look to even their series against the Stars on Saturday as the teams play game two in Dallas.
The Wild head into Saturday’s game two coming off a tough loss in the series opener and while they held strong for the first 25 minutes they couldn’t fend off the high flying Stars attack and now they may have to contend with more as Tyler Seguin is expected back as early as today. Minnesota has a pretty solid roster but without Zach Parise leading the way offensively they really don’t have a ton of other options and they will have to find a way to play more defensive and keep the Stars off the score board or they could be done very quickly. Minny will send Devan Dubnyk back to the crease as he will face off against Kari Lehtonen who was excellent when called upon in game one and will likely be the guy moving forward.
Dallas comes into the playoffs as the top seed in the Western Conference and will have home ice advantage throughout the West playoffs and that is potentially huge in the second round against the Hawks or Blues. The Stars are loaded in the offensive zone and haven’t missed a beat without Seguin and with him back in the lineup it makes them even more dangerous and if they can run all four lines with offensive effectiveness they will be very tough to slow down and should cruise through the first round. Dallas is a heavy favourite here and should stay that way throughout the series and while Minny should be able to steal one or two I don’t see it coming here as the Stars get another win tonight.
