The Nashville Predators and Dallas Stars meet up in Frisco on Saturday in a show down of two of the best teams in the NHL’s Western Conference.
The Predators skate into Dallas on Saturday looking to maintain top spot in the Western Conference as they face off against a Stars team that is 9-6-1 on the season and is currently locked into 3rd place in the ultra competitive Central division. Nashville has been dominant at both ends of the rink as they are a staggering +20 already this season and trends continue to work in their favour as they aim to get back to the Stanley Cup final after getting ousted by the Jets last season. Nashville has one of the best blue lines in the league and a goaltender in Pekka Rinne who is coming off a Vezina Trophy win as the league’s best goaltender and if that group can continue to produce at their current clip there is no questioning they are a threat to win it all this season.
The Stars meanwhile are more of an offensive team and possess two of the game’s more dynamic play makers in Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin. However, the Stars need to find a way to be better on the road as that is what separates the good from the great teams and come playoff time they need to know how to win away from home if they’re going to compete in a series with the likes of Nashville and San Jose. Ben Bishop is expected to get the start here as he will face off against Rinne in what should be one of the more exciting games in a jam packed schedule on Saturday night. These two sides are pretty evenly matched and while Dallas is at home and may have the edge in that capacity I like the value on the Preds on the road.
