|Date & Time||Saturday April 11, 2015, 8:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Dallas Stars -130 / Nashville Predators +110 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The American Airlines Center and the Dallas Stars welcome the Nashville Predators to town Saturday.
Home ice and an early lead are generally a good sign for most teams but it wasn’t enough for the Nashville Predators who had both in a 4-2 loss to Minnesota. Seth Jones and Filip Forsberg tallied in the opening period to give the Preds a 2-0 lead but Pekka Rinne and the offense struggled after that. Rinne absorbed the loss with three goals allowed on 26 shots as the team dropped their 5th consecutive contest. Jason Zucker led the Minnesota charge with a pair of goals with Jason Pominville and Marco Scandella also joining the scoring column. Darcy Kuemper picked up the victory with 32 stops as the Wild have won 12 in a row away from home.
If I could grant one team a free pass in to the Stanley Cup Playoffs it would be the Dallas Stars who are simply tearing up the competition but are out of the playoff picture despite wins in 15-18. The Stars continued their winning ways when they went to the Honda Center and smacked around Anaheim to the tune of 4-0. A three goal second period burst was more then enough for Jhonas Enroth who brushed aside 19 shots to record his second shutout of the year. Patrick Eaves paced the attack with a pair of goals with Vernon Fiddler and Jordie Benn also finding the back of the net. The defeat went to Frederik Andersen who gave up all four goals on 32 shots as the Ducks failed to secure the top seed in the Western Conference.
The over is 4-0-2 in Predators last 6 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game and 2-0-2 in Predators last 4 vs. Central while going 5-0-2 in Predators last 7 vs. Western Conference. The Stars are 5-0 in their last 5 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game while the over is 5-1 in Stars last 6 overall with Dallas going 5-1 in their last 6 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game. Head to head the under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings in Dallas while the Predators are 8-21 in the last 29 meetings in Dallas. I’m waiting for the line but lean Dallas who are hot and want Jamie Benn to win the scoring title…
