The Line: Dallas Stars -170 / New Jersey Devils +153 --- Over/Under: 5.5
Thursday NHL action features the New Jersey Devils traveling to the Dallas Stars.
The red hot New Jersey Devils squad that was racking up the wins has been forced to regroup and avoid a prolonged slide following a three game losing streak capped off by a 3-2, shootout loss at the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night. Nico Hischier scored in the second and Taylor Hall scored on the power play at 1:17 of the third for the Devils.
St. Louis saw Vladimir Tarasenko open the scoring at 12:48 of the first with Vladimir Sobotka finding the back of the net with 1:52 remaining in the second period. Vladimir Tarasenko and Brayden Schenn scored the only goals of the shootout to secure the win for the Blues who received 24 saves from Carter Hutton while Keith Kinkaid stopped 27 shots for the Devils.
The Dallas Stars are hoping to stay hot and hopefully make a move up the Central standings from 4th place. Dallas has won four of six despite Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets. This was scoreless until the third when Devin Shore gave the Stars the lead 44 seconds after the faceoff.
Oliver Bjorkstrand scored both goals for the Bluejackets just 78 seconds apart. Lukas Sedlak logged assists on each while Sergei Bobrovsky upped his record to 19-11-2 with 21 saves while Ben Bishop absorbed the loss for the Stars with both goals given up on 26 shots.
Devils are 0-4 in their last 4 road games and Devils are 6-1 in their last 7 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game and under is 5-1 in Devils last 6 games playing on 1 days rest. Stars are 0-4 in their last 4 vs. Eastern Conference and Stars are 0-4 in their last 4 vs. Metropolitan and Stars are 9-0 in their last 9 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. Home team is 15-6 in the last 21 meetings and Devils are 3-7 in the last 10 meetings in Dallas and under is 9-4-2 in the last 15 meetings in Dallas.
New Jersey has not done all that well at Dallas and I’m tempted to go under for an interest until I see goalies…
