The New Jersey Devils look to keep their hot start afloat as they travel to Texas to take on the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night.
The Devils are off to a very nice start to the season and have goaltender Corey Schneider to thank as he continues to prove he is one of the best goalies in the NHL and he is expected to get the call in this one against the Stars. New Jersey made a splash in the offseason by trading for Taylor Hall and the former first overall pick has made the transition seamlessly, and while his new team doesn’t score a ton of goals, he has had his fair share and the tally’s are accumulating in the win column. New Jersey will look to improve their mark on the road to 3-3-2 and earn their eighth win in their last 10 games but will be in tough against a Stars side that has a ton of fire power and is starting to turn things around.
The Stars have been one of the biggest disappointments to start the season as many had them pegged for a Cup run this season, but a sluggish start has put a damper on those possibilities for now. Dallas has one of the best tandems in the league when it comes to offensive production as both Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin should be in the mix for the Art Ross but so far their efforts have been underwhelming and the team is looking for a spark. Kari Lehtonen is expected to get the call here in a game that should be pretty tight.
The Devils are 4-0 in their last four overall and 12-3 in their last 15 against the West while the Stars are 2-9 in their last 11 on a single day’s rest and 0-6 in their last six when their opponent gives up two goals or less in their previous outing. The value on the Devils here is way too much to pass up as Dallas has struggled but the better play is the total as Schneider will keep Dallas at bay in a low scoring matchup.
