Friday NHL action brings us an exciting matchup between the New York Islanders and Dallas Stars.
The New York Islanders head out on the road to oppose the Dallas Stars on Friday. New York aims to get back in the win column after falling to the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 in OT on Tuesday night.
The Oilers have been struggling to score in the early stages of 2017-18 and that trend continued Tuesday but the defensive end of the ice came through. Connor McDavid tallied the game winner a mere 38 seconds in to the extra session to win it for Edmonton who received a second period goal from Leon Draisaitl.
Jordan Eberle scored in the second for the Islanders who could not light the lamp again despite 13 shots in the third. Cam Talbot stood tall between the pipes for the Oilers with 36 stops while Thomas Greiss recorded 23 saves for New York.
The Dallas Stars will be on home ice for consecutive contests with the New York Islanders in town on Friday. Dallas saw an opportunity at back to back wins go by the wayside in a 4-1 defeat to the Winnipeg Jets on Monday night.
Winnipeg jumped to a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes and never looked back in a strong effort at both ends of the ice against a dangerous offensive squad. When the final horn sounded the Jets received two goals from Mark Scheifele, with Kyle Connor and Patrik Laine also scoring.
Blake Wheeler added four helpers for Winnipeg and Connor Hellebuyck made 33 saves in the win. Jamie Benn scored for the Stars while Ben Bishop was charged with three goals on 25 shots to get the loss and fall to 6-4-0.
Over is 4-0 in Islanders last 4 road games and over is 8-1 in Islanders last 9 overall and over is 6-1 in Islanders last 7 vs. Western Conference Over is 3-0-1 in Stars last 4 vs. Eastern Conference and Stars are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. Metropolitan and Stars are 5-1 in their last 6 home games. Home team is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings and Islanders are 6-2 in the last 8 meetings and over is 9-4-1 in the last 14 meetings.
The Islanders are on my list of teams to avoid because they can play great or disappoint. For now I’ll go with the over with goals generally scored when these teams faceoff…
