The Line: Dallas Stars -220 / Ottawa Senators +197 --- Over/Under: 5.5
NHL action comes to the American Airlines Center when the Dallas Stars host the Ottawa Senators on Monday.
The Ottawa Senators have three wins in their last ten contests with four defeats by a single goal. The bottom line is Ottawa is in the role of spoiler and could be a tough opponent for teams jockeying for postseason position. The Senators fell short in their bid for consecutive wins after a 2-1 win at Arizona.
Ottawa opened the scoring at 3:24 of the first on a Jean-Gabriel Pageau tally but Oliver Ekman-Larsson evened the score for the Coyotes with 74 seconds remaining in the period. Jordan Martinook scored the winner in the second for Arizona Antti Ranta getting the win with 23 stops while Mike Condon absorbed the loss with 25 saves.
The Dallas Stars are trying to secure third in the Central but are struggling to string wins together. Dallas has a chance for back to back wins after a 3-2 overtime win versus St. Louis on Saturday where the Blues saw goals from Jaden Schwartz and Ivan Radulov.
Tyler Pitlick opened the scoring in the second with Alexander Radulov scoring with just under three minutes remaining to send the game to overtime where Jamie Benn won it. Tyler Seguin gave the Stars a pair of assists and Ben Bishop made 35 saves in the win while Carter Hutton stopped 31 shots in defeat.
Senators are 0-4 in their last 4 Monday games and over is 6-0 in Senators last 6 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game and Senators are 0-4 in their last 4 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game. Stars are 0-4 in their last 4 games following a win and Stars are 6-1 in their last 7 vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and under is 6-1 in Stars last 7 Monday games. Over is 9-2 in the last 11 meetings in Dallas and road team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and Senators are 3-8 in the last 11 meetings.
When these teams take the ice there seems to be plenty of offense so I’ll go with the over…
