NHL action comes to the American Airlines Center where the Dallas Stars host the St. Louis Blues.
The St. Louis Blues have been struggling at the offensive end of the ice and that’s been hurting the team in the win column. St. Louis has dropped six of eight with the team scoring five times in the losses. The Blues are coming off of a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the visiting Nashville Predators on Wednesday where Vladimir Sobotka broke up the shutout in the third period.
The Predators took a 1-0 lead at 10:37 of the first on a Craig Smith tally off an assist from Roman Josi with Calle Jarnkrok scoring in the second with 3:11 left in the period. Pekka Rinne improved to 19-6-3 with a 29 save performance while Jake Allen absorbed the loss for St. Louis with 24 stops that dropped him to 18-11-2.
The Dallas Stars need can’t seem to stay hot for an extended period of time aside from a few wins here and there. That trend continued Wednesday a with Dallas falling 4-2 at the Minnesota Wild which ended a two game winning streak. Tyler Seguin and Mattias Janmark scored for the Stars with Seguin adding an assist.
The balanced Minnesota attack featured scoring from Mikeal Granlund, Eric Staal, and Jared Spurgeon. Jason Zucker secured the win for the Wild with an empty netter while Charlie Coyle added a pair of helpers to make Alex Stalock and his 24 saves hold up. Ben Bishop recorded 27 stops in a losing effort for Dallas.
Under is 4-0 in Blues last 4 road games and Blues are 0-4 in their last 4 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and under is 5-0 in Blues last 5 vs. Central. Stars are 7-0 in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and over is 6-1 in Stars last 7 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 5-1 in Stars last 6 vs. a team with a winning record. Blues are 5-0 in the last 5 meetings and home team is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings and Blues are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Dallas.
St. Louis hasn’t been scoring or winning but I believe this team has some value here although I’m not betting this one…
