The Stars look to build on their massive win over the Chicago Blackhawks last night as they welcome another division rival in St. Louis to town on Saturday.
The St. Louis Blues head into Dallas on Saturday night sitting in second place in the Central division and are just a single point back of the Stars for first thanks to a five game winning streak that was highlighted by a 5-2 win over the Ducks in their last outing. St. Louis is a very dangerous team that has flown under the radar this season but with a ton of depth at both ends of the rink and a goaltender in Jake Allen who is proving to be one of the league’s best young goaltenders there is certainly some optimism in the dressing room and in the city as a whole. The Blues are likely to start Allen in this one as he will face off against Kari Lehtonen for the Stars.
Dallas meanwhile notched their biggest win of the season with a convincing 5-2 drubbing of the defending Cup champs and with a divisional sweep they can move three points clear of the Blues for top spot in the Central. Dallas has a ton of offensive fire power and while some question their back end and whether they have the legs to go in a seven game set with the league’s best they have certainly shown at times that they can and should be among the discussion of the top Cup contenders. Dallas and St. Louis are both in a back to back and both coming off key victories last night but In this circumstance I like the home side who didn’t have to travel between games and I think it plays a difference here.
