The Blues have their sights set on the Central division crown as they head into Dallas on Friday to take on the Stars.
The Blues got back in the win column after a big time 4-1 win on home ice against the Calgary Flames last night and now they can jump back into top spot in the Central with a win here against the Stars in Dallas. The Blues have been one of the league's most consistent teams since the puck dropped in October but after a premature exit last season they certainly are feeling the Cup-or-bust mentality surfacing around town. St. Louis would love to avoid playing the Blackhawks in the opening round and at the current rate the two teams are slated to do battle in what would be an incredibly exciting first round series but with the way the Hawks have been playing of late and Patrick Kane slated to come back you can bet nobody wants to see them in the first round.
The Stars had a nice late season push and while they're technically still alive in the Western Conference wild card race it looks like they are just playing out the string at this point and will focus on reloading for next year. Dallas had high hopes coming into the year but they have since fizzled out and after the Tyler Seguin injury it was basically all she wrote for Big D and while they surprised people down the stretch I think they have been a little too inconsistent and not strong enough defnesively to make the playoffs in the West. This is a nice spot for them though catching the Blues in a back to back but their play at home has been woeful and with the Blues still competing for a division crown I thikn they get the call especially at this price.
