The Stars and Blues meet up in Dallas on Wednesday night in a do or die game seven show down with the winner heading to the Western Conference final.
The St. Louis Blues got behind the eight ball early in a game six loss at home and couldn’t fully recover as they dropped a pivotal victory and now must find a way to win on the road in hostile territory to keep their Cup aspirations in tow. The Blues have been up and down in this series and we finally saw a crack in the wall that has been Brian Elliott in these playoffs and now with the late game success of Jake Allen in everyone’s mind it’ll be interesting to see who the Blues decide to start in game seven. Elliott is projected to get the call as he will face off against Kari Lehotnen but if either of them struggle don’t be too surprised to see this one finish with Allen going up against Antii Niemi.
The Stars battled back in a huge way on Monday night as they pulled of another victory in St. Louis and sent the series back to Dallas with everything on the line and while we are still unlikely to see Tyler Seguin, the Stars have to be feeling good about their offense right now. Dallas had one of the league’s best records during the regular season and are the top seeded team in the Western Conference but that can be all for not if they can’t find a way to win this game as their impressive season would be meaningless without some hardware to prove it. Dallas are slight favourites here based solely on the fact they are the home team but this is going to be an incredible game that could even yield overtime. In the end, in a game seven show down the team to me that has to be the favourite, even more so than the team at home, is the group with the better blue line and goaltending and both point to the Blues. I am siding with St. Louis.
