NHL action comes to the American Airlines Center where the Dallas Stars host the Vancouver Canucks.
The Vancouver Canucks have struggled the majority of 2017-18 and those struggles have been evident with the team losing nine of ten. Vancouver comes in off of a 4-1 defeat at the St. Louis Blues where Sam Gagner scored the lone goal and Anders Nilsson absorbed the loss with four goals allowed on 25 shots.
Patrik Berglund topped the Blues offense with a pair of tallies with Vladimir Tarasenko and Dmitrij Jaskin also reaching the scoring column. Jake Allen recorded 19 saves for St. Louis to up his record to 25-21-2.
The Dallas Stars have generally avoided prolonged losing streaks but the team is mired in a seven game slide. Dallas comes in off of a 3-2 defeat to the visiting Boston Bruins where Esa Lindell and Jamie Benn scored with Kari Lehtonen allowing three goals on 36 shots.
The Bruins rallied from a 2-0 deficit behind third period goals off the sticks of Brad Marchand, Tim Schaller and David Pastrnak with Marchand completing a three point night with three assists. Tuuka Rask made 40 saves for Boston to improve to 31-11-5.
Over is 4-0 in Canucks last 4 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 days situation and under is 7-1 in Canucks last 8 road games and Canucks are 1-5 in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. Under is 4-0 in Stars last 4 home games and under is 4-0 in Stars last 4 vs. Pacific and Stars are 0-5 in their last 5 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. Canucks are 1-7 in the last 8 meetings in Dallas and Canucks are 5-16 in the last 21 meetings and under is 17-8-3 in the last 28 meetings in Dallas.
I’m going to back the Stars who have done nothing for weeks but the Stars are the better squad and need a feel good win…
