The Jets look to keep pace in the Central division with a road win in Dallas on Thursday while the Stars aim for their sixth win in their last 10 contests.
The Winnipeg Jets continue their push towards the postseason on Thursday night and improve their impressive road record against a Stars team who is chasing them and trail by seven points coming into tonight's contest. The Jets have been one of the surprise teams in the league this season and while they have long been thought of as a team on the cusp of making the playoffs it looks like they may put it into action this year and with the roster they have especially on defense there is a good chance they could do some damage. The Jets are 12-5-5 on the road this season and will turn to Mike Hutchinson who has outplayed Ondrej Pavelec this season and he will go up against Kari Lehtonen who was yanked after allowing two early goals against the Senators in his last outing.
The Stars have been one of the league's bigger disappointments this season and while they are starting to come along now they haven't lived up to expectation this season and with the mid way point of the season come and gone and the competition being what it is in the Western Conference they could very well miss the playoffs altogether. Dallas is of course led up front by Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn with the former sitting second in league scoring but the team's secondary scoring hasn't played the part this season and as such the team becomes too one dimensional and their defense isn't good enough to keep them in games. This is shaping up to be a great game between two different styles of play and the difference maker for me here will be who starts in goal for the Jets as the team seams to play much better with Hutchinson in net. I will assume the Jets will go with the hot hand and as such I like them to grab another road win and take down the Stars in Dallas.
