The Stars look to sweep the home and home set with the Jets when the teams meet up in Dallas on Thursday evening.
The Winnipeg Jets were dealt a tough blow at home in their last outing as they conceded five goals to the high powered Stars offense and while Andrew Ladd did have a great game in his possible Jets home finale it wasn’t enough to get them a victory. Winnipeg has had a nightmare of a season and have fallen well short of expectations this season and really haven’t played well since the end of the regular season last year. The Jets are second to last in the NHL standings sitting ahead of the lowly Oilers and with the trade deadline fast approaching I think we can assume they will not only be sellers but move some serious pieces along in order to get some prized draft picks and prospects. Winnipeg is 12-16-3 on the road this season and will likely send Ondrej Pavelec to the crease while the Stars are 20-8 at home and will counter with Kari Lehtonen or Antii Niemi.
The Stars meanwhile ended their losing ways and took over top spot in the Central division with their win in Winnipeg and if they can complete the sweep they could move three points clear of the Blackhawks for the best mark in the West. Dallas has been a force all season long but I do think they are in the market for a blue liner and perhaps another piece in their forward group and with the trade deadline happening next week I think we could see a couple new players in green and white. Dallas is a tough team to beat ,especially at home and now that they have had their losing spell I expect them to rebound with another win here and take four points in a row from the Jets.
