The Detroit Red Wings look to snap out of their home ice losing funk as they welcome the Anaheim Ducks to town on Tuesday night.
The Ducks head into the Motor City on Tuesday night looking to continue their recent success against the league’s bottom feeders as they take on the Red Wings at Little Caesar’s Arena in what should be a pretty exciting encounter between two playoff hopefuls. The Ducks have had a tough road stretch over the last couple of weeks but with a victory tonight they would claim their seventh win in their last nine tries against the Red Wings and would jump back into the mix as the top spot in the Pacific division. Anaheim has a ton of depth up top but their blue line will be their key to success this season and what they do at the trade deadline could separate them from being a contender and a pretender in this year’s playoff picture.
The Wings meanwhile have won four of their last five home games and are looking like a team who could very well jump into the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference if they can continue their recent success. The Red Wings have dropped six of their last eight games against the Ducks though and have just one win in their last seven tries on home ice and with the Ducks in town here I don’t expect things to get any easier as Anaheim has Cup aspirations while the Red Wings will be lucky to make it past April. Detroit is expected to face off with John Gibson who has been the go to guy in the Anaheim crease and they are likely to counter with Jimmy Howard.
The Ducks are 4-0 in their last four Tuesday games and over in five of their last seven against the East while the Wings are 1-6 in their last seven home games. Anaheim is the better team and at the right price here they are the play.
