The Boston Bruins look to maintain their excellent run against divisional foes as they head into Detroit to take on the Red Wings on Tuesday night.
The Bruins look for their 12th win in a row against Atlantic division opponents as they head into Little Caesar’s Arena to face off against a Red Wings side who has been horrible on home ice this season and hasn’t been too great overall as they run the risk of missing the playoffs yet again. The Bruins have looked like one of the league’s best teams over the last few weeks and have carried their momentum from the first half of the season into the post all-star break schedule and with a win over the Maple Leafs in their last outing they have moved to 25-8 in their last 33 games overall and are in great shape to keep that going here against an underwhelming Red Wings side. Boston is expected to send Tuukka Rask to the crease here as he will face off against Jimmy Howard who will look to give the Wings just their third win in eight tries against the Boston Bruins.
The Red Wings meanwhile look to shake out of a disappointing home ice funk that has them losers of five of their last six in the Motor City and with one of the league’s best coming to town on Tuesday it doesn’t look like things are going to get any easier in this spot. The Wings have struggled against Eastern Conference foes with a disappointing 18-40 record in their last 58 games and a large part of their downfall has been their inability to score goals and with the under hitting at an alarming clip in Detroit games it is clear they need to address some of their offensive woes if they’re going to get back into the discussion as an Eastern Conference and Stanley Cup contender.
The Bruins are 5-1 in their last six following a win and 20-6 in their last 26 against the Eastern Conference while the Wings are 15-39 in their last 54 against the Atlantic and 10-25 in their last 35 Tuesday games. The Bruins are the better team and all of the trends point to them here as they should make this one look easy.
