The Dallas Stars look for their second win in as many days as they travel from Boston to Detroit to take on the Red Wings on Tuesday night.
The Stars look to build on their overtime victory against the Boston Bruins yesterday afternoon as they continue their road trip in the Motor City against the Red Wings who are coming off a huge win against the Chicago Blackhawks in their last outing in what should be a very exciting contest. The Stars have battled inconsistency this season but are among one of the deeper teams in the Western Conference and should be right in the mix come playoff time as they have a ton of offensive weapons and match up very well with most contending teams in the NHL. Dallas is in a back to back here and they have struggled in their recent series with the Red Wings but they should be playing with a ton of confidence here after taking down a Bruins side who has been among the league’s best this season.
The Red Wings meanwhile head into Tuesday night’s game playing some of their best hockey of the season and have been red hot at Little Caesar’s Arena with a 5-1 stretch in their last six games at home and catch the Stars in a back to back in this one. The Wings may still be a season away from getting back into the mix in the Atlantic division as they don’t have the depth that most playoff teams possess but with the way they have been playing of late they could ride the play of their top end superstars to sneak into the postseason. Detroit has dominated this series as they have win 11 of their last 16 against Dallas and with the Stars playing on back to back nights this could be a spot for them to fall short.
The Stars are 20-41 in their last 61 road games and 2-5 in their last seven Tuesday games while the Wings are 4-1 in their last five on one day’s rest and 5-14 in their last 19 Tuesday games. Dallas is coming off a nice outing yesterday but in a back to back here I like the Wings who are rested and are playing well right now and get a nice price.
