The Line: Detroit Red Wings -125 / Florida Panthers +113 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Florida Panthers take the ice at the Detroit Red Wings in Monday NHL action.
The Florida Panthers are a team that can’t get or stay hot for any significant period of time which is going to hurt them in the long term. Florida has dropped four of five following a 7-3 defeat at the hands of the visiting Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night. The Panthers scoring came from Aaron Ekblad, Denis Malgin and Jonathan Huberdeau but James Reimer allowed five goals on 28 shots.
The explosive and balanced attack by the Avalanche featured goals from Alexander Kerfoot, Mikko Rantanen, Nathan MacKinnon, Erik Johnson, Colin Wilson, Matt Nieto and Carl Soderberg. Semyon Varlamov picked up the win for Colorado with a 39 save performance.
The Detroit Red Wings know they have to string together wins or they will be playing catch up the remainder of the season. Detroit has lost seven of eight where both ends of the ice have contributed to their struggles. That trend continued in a 6-1 loss to the visiting St. Louis Blues on Saturday afternoon. The Red Wings lone goal came from Frans Nielsen while Jimmy Howard allowed four goals on ten shots before Petr Mrazek came on to stop ten shots.
The balanced Blues attack featured scoring from Jaden Schwartz, Jay Bouwmeester, Brayden Schenn, Scottie Upshaw, Vladimir Sobotka and Dmitrij Jaskin. Alex Pietrangelo added a pair of helper to make an easy winner of Jake Allen and his 28 saves.
Under is 8-1 in Panthers last 9 road games and over is 7-1 in Panthers last 8 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game and Panthers are 1-6 in their last 7 vs. a team with a losing record. Over is 4-0 in Red Wings last 4 overall and Red Wings are 0-6 in their last 6 games following a home loss of 3 or more goals and Red Wings are 1-8 in their last 9 overall. Road team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and Panthers are 7-1 in the last 8 meetings in Detroit and under is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings in Detroit.
Wow…these teams have put some ugly numbers. I don’t know who has the advantage but I’m not going to pay juice…
