Thursday NHL action at Little Caesars Arena features the Detroit Red Wings hosting the Montreal Canadiens.
The Montreal Canadiens haven’t had any luck stinging together wins and the result is no postseason. Montreal has lost three in a row following a 5-4 OT defeat versus Winnipeg on Tuesday. The Habs offense came from Artturi Lehkonen, Paul Byron, Kerby Rychel and Alex Galchenyuk while Carey Price gave up five goals on 32 shots.
The balanced Jets received scoring from Patrik Laine, Nikolaj Ehlers, Jack Roslovic and Sami Niku in regulation with Kyle Connor scoring in OT. Kyle Connor added two assists and Steve Mason made 36 saves for the Jets.
The Detroit Red Wings are going to miss the postseason for the second straight year but had won three in a row before a 5-4 OT loss at Columbus ended their run. The Red Wings saw two goals from Tyler Bertuzzi with Darren Helm and Gustav Nyqvist also scoring with Jimmy Howard stopping 36-41 shots.
Cam Atkinson topped the Blue Jackets with a pair of goals with Sonny Milano and Artemi Panarin also reaching the scoring column before Pierre-Luc Dubois scored in OT. Panarin, Seth Jones and Oliver Bjorkstrand added two helpers each and Sergei Bobrovsky made 23 saves for Columbus.
Montreal are 5-21 in their last 26 road games and under is 16-5-1 in Montreal last 22 vs. Atlantic and Montreal are 4-12 in their last 16 vs. Atlantic. Detroit are 1-10 in their last 11 Thursday games and Detroit are 4-14 in their last 18 overall and under is 18-6 in Detroit last 24 home games. Under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in Detroit and home team is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings.
It seems the Red Wings are one of the few teams Montreal has had success against but don’t go crazy betting either side…
